Watching the most recent trailer for Devil May Cry 2 made us want to make a comic about it.  So, there you go.  Some things to keep in mind.

  • We’d had this idea a while ago, and decided instead to invest in magma spiders.  Still, this strip concept seems very familiar to us, but we’re not sure if it’s just because we had the idea before or if we actually saw it somewhere.  If that’s the case - if we saw it on your site, for example - well, we’re very sorry ahead of time.

  • Watching that trailer I felt only joy, like finding money in an old coat.  Upon further reflection I can recall that the orginal game really pissed me off, and that the last hour made absolutely no sense.  It leapt and gestured wildly, as though on fire.  No genre was safe as it careened with desperate urgency.  What they had done up to that point was extraordinary fun, which is why it performed so well on the review circuit.  God willing, Japan will simply finish the great game they started this time - and handle the denouement in a way that is not wad-related.

  • We made a drinking game for DMC - if you are under twenty-one, assume that you will be drinking wholesome milk.

So now, Dante’s hair moves around.  Sold!

Oh, and file this under Yay:  Gamecube exclusive Clone Wars just went gold, which is very exciting indeed.  Produced by action/strategy vanguard Pandemic Studios, it’s got interesting gametypes with an eye towards cooperative play.  What I saw at E3 has kept the game fresh in my mind for months.

at least you don’t have to play along

Well, Well!

In Evil Avatar’s forum thread for Clone Wars, I saw something very interesting:  a link to another forum thread.

This other forum thread, found on the site for Edge Magazine, talks about a new GBA - and not just back-lit, like everyone has been saying since the old one came out.  They’re talking about four face buttons, a cell-phone style battery pack dense with energy, and a vagina.  I know!

A word of warning before you go over to that link - I think the people on there might be English.

I’ll go over and see if Planet GameCube has anything to say about this.

I just have a quick update for Club PA members this month. October’s gift will be sent out at the end of the month rather than the middle. I’m sorry for the delay but I think it will be worth it. This month’s Club PA gift is nothing less than the first two pages of Over Easy. That’s right, Penny Arcade’s long rumored much anticipated Hong Kong action…um…extravaganza arrives this month. The plan is to continue releasing a page a month for Club PA members until the story is finished. How long will that be? We have no idea right now. Here is just a tiny snippet from one of the pages:

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Over Easy Tycho will now explain the Story.

Well go on you lazy son of a bitch, explain the Goddamned story!

While I respect the fact the Microsoft is trying to be clever and/or funny, they really should have considered hiring people who were clever and/or funny to create their irreverent flash advertisements.

This is what my Dad would come up with if he were asked by Microsoft to make their corporate propaganda resonate with today’s youth.
