We’ve already explained in absolute terms why you might find the occasional rupee spirited away.  I found a Link inside a Wind Waker gashapon that I ostensibly got for my son, and the figure included a little rupee inside the egg, and they’re just as desirable in real life.  I took it.  Oh, don’t look at me like that.  He has no idea what it is.

So, rupees; obviously, we know all about those.  They’ve been recast as plump in the new one, as though gems could be ripe, which has had the effect of magnifying their power even further.  But the hearts?  That’s pretty weird, right?  Why are they coming out of there?  Don’t worry; we have compressed this notion as well.

Child’s Play is off like a shot, and between Erika’s stellar redesign slash Kristin and Jamie’s organizational know-how the entire thing hums.  Is it customary for a charity to have a calendar you could describe as “bad-ass”?  Let those other charities play it safe with their mealy-mouthed chronologies while we deliver the scheduling equivalent of Beast Mode.  At $740,000 as of this morning, you might think that we could take a moment to be satisfied, or to pose at length for an oil portrait.  To “chill,” in the parlance of the young.

But you know as we do - that 2010’s haul is ever nipping at the heel, baying in its pursuit.  It is our task, collectively, to make a simple assertion:  to state, numerically and without equivocation, that regardless of how increasingly fucked absolutely everything is, this didn’t change.

Desert Bus is days into their apocalyptic journey, and they need you to get out and push.  Won’t you help?

Penny Arcade TV season 3 kicked off last week and hopefully you checked out the first episode. Meanwhile the PATV season 2 DVD is now available for pre-order. Originally we had set Sunday as the final day for ordering your special signed copy but we’ve pushed that out a couple of days. So now you have until tomorrow Tuesday Nov, 22 at midnight to pre-order a copy of the Season 2 DVD. We will be signing all the pre-orders so hit the store and grab yours today.

The DVD includes a ton of bonus content like commentaries and extra footage. One of the best features I think are the “lost 4th panels”. The camera guys are always filming Jerry and I but not all of our bullshit ends up online. Some of the stuff gets cut and a few of the better ones have been collected here on the DVD. Here is an example of one of these new 4th panels. The camera guys caught Jerry and I having a conversation about our kids and religion.

In case you can’t tell I’ve been a little bit obsessed with Zelda recently. I’m about 50 hours into Skyward sword and I think I’m pretty near the end. I’ve also been working on the Zelda comic that we announced last week. The second page of that will go up tomorrow by the way. One of the things I did when I first started the Zelda comic was to get a little sketchbook just for the project. So I’ve been doodling and making little water color paintings in it for a couple of months now. One of the sketches I did I actually really liked and when I looked at it I felt like it should be a painting.

I haven’t painted anything with acrylics since back in 2008 but I decided it was time to crack out the easel again.

So I got all my stuff set back up and went to work on a new piece.

I really missed working with acrylics and it feels great to be painting again

I was so excited to be back in front of a canvas that I ended up knocking this out in just a couple of days. I am really happy with the way it came out and I’m already planning my next painting.

The second page of our Zelda: Skyward Sword comic is now live over on Nintendo’s site.

When we first sat down to write this project we had a hard time. Link doesn’t speak and Nintendo didn’t want him to even have an internal monologue. So the narration had to come from someplace else. After we started playing though the game we discovered what a cool character Gaepora was. He is Zelda’s father and as Dads ourselves, we tried to immagine what all of this must be like for him. His daughter is missing and the only person who can save her is this kid? It seemed like an interesting angle to us and I think the final product is a cool look inside the mind of someone you might just skip over otherwise.

Here are a couple detail shots from the high res version.
