Peekin’

I don’t know if any of them were featured on Vinepeek, but Gabriel distilled and presented a sequence of these “vines” to catalogue the creation of the strip - a strip which you can see here.  I don’t really see myself as a…  vintner, or whatever, I don’t think I’m going to be broadcasting my life six seconds at a time.  But I am absolutely a fan of Vinepeek, which is like a wondrous nickelodeon full of tiny players.

ChatRoulette requires something of the participants, and if you’re watching someone who is also watching you it short-circuits the voyeur aspect.  With these Goddamn vines, fired in an infinite beam, you just buckle in and absorb.  It’s like a feedbag for your optic nerve, a bag which through some trick of space may hold all of the literal oats.  Weird short films.  Domestic tranquility.  Pet love.  Filial piety.  Bricks.  Noodles.  Mizithra.  Fairy saddles.  It’s like you’re being reprogrammed by the world’s most ordinary cult.

Good fucking luck getting away from it, though.  I thought that eventually an animal hunger might pry us from the teat, but there is some band of data in the stream that the human body is able to metabolize because hunger and thirst become a kind of dull static.  They are a small sound, one that can’t pierce the din of the brainfeast.

Oh!  And if you own any Microsoft platforms, you more or less have to get Skulls of the Shogun.  I expected to find something to enjoy about its analogue, immediate approach to tactics gaming, and I liked the art, but I had no idea it would be so cleverly written.  I would be incredibly surprised if you made it through the demo without it getting one of its “hilarious” talons caught in your flesh.

(CW)TB out.
