Blood Dragon lead actor touts larger than expected sales and possible sequel
In an interview with Microsoft's Xbox Live Director of Programming, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon's lead actor said that the game is already in talks for a sequel.
“Dean was with me on the phone last night, he called me last night,” actor Michael Biehn said on Hryb's podcast, Major Nelson Radio about game director Dean Evans. “He was pretty jacked up. He was going into a meeting today, to…I think he wants to turn it into some sort of franchise. He's got a sequel in mind.”
What's got Evans so excited? According to Biehn, Blood Dragon is selling incredibly well.
“From what I understand, the sales of the video game are five times are what they expected the sales to be,” said Biehn.
That statement shouldn't be taken as concrete fact, however, because Biehn himself admits he doesn't remember where he heard the figure, and he's not in a position to have ready access to sale figures. It may have been conjecture or hyperbole, but it's a pretty good indication that Blood Dragon is selling quite well and that Ubisoft considers it a candidate for sequelization.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a standalone expansion to Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 and released on April 30, 2013 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. In his review, Ben described it as a cocaine overdose dream.
