Code Hero is out of money, backers are talking lawsuits, creator promises game is still coming
Does anyone, at this point, believe that Code Hero will ever see release? This story has me convinced that Peake never really knew what he was doing, never had much of a plan for making a game, and doesn't really understand how to manage a project of this magnitude. People are saying they were never paid, the people working on the project right now are volunteering their time, and it's just a giant mess.
There isn't much protection in the rules of Kickstarter, or even in the law, when things like this happen, so the people who pledged the larger amounts to get the game in schools will likely be simply out of luck. It's a sad outcome, but I guess there is a slim chance that, at some point, something may be released, but the reality hasn't matched what was promised, and it's unclear where the $170,000 actually went.
As always, don't give money to a Kickstarter campaign unless you can afford to lose it.
