EA executive talks some bullshit, insults our intelligence, situation normal

I was once invited to a meeting with EA Sports where someone from the team behind each major sports franchise sat me down, explained why the previous year's game was terrible, and then walked me through why the next year's game was going to be great. The whole thing was bizarre, as they pointed out flaws in the past game and then lauded the next game as being the the greatest thing in the world.

The linked post in this Cut, which was quoted in a news story I happened upon, is just as insulting. We're being told that things are so much better, but we have yet to be shown it. It's just a collection of buzzwords, the same hollow promises we get every time there's a new bit of technology in gaming. Everything is about to change? I'm guessing things will be exactly the same, with a few more social features and slightly better graphics.

There will be living, dynamic worlds. There always are. Living, dynamic stuff is what you promise whenever something new is coming out. Why not show us? All this post tells us is the same old stuff is coming.

A full generation ahead of the "highest end" PC? That's a pretty bold statement, especially with absolutely nothing concrete to back it up. I know the Cut is usually meant to foster discussion, but sometimes it's worthwhile just to stand up, point to something, and yell "BULLSHIT!"
