How one man exploited a game show in a surreal show of skill and concentration

I've been interested in this story for a long time, and I've watched the episode in question a few times, but this article does a great job of summing up why the situation was so weird. I don't want to go into many details here, the source article says it better than I could, but it's like someone showed up, broke the implied social contract of the show, and suddenly none of the expected rules seemed to apply.

We rarely get to see our expectations so subverted on live television, but this guy really brought the pain when it came to breaking a popular game show. He didn't even have to cheat! Give it a read, it's a neat piece of television history.
