How the Indie Fund is trying to drive itself out of business
I love everything about the Indie Fund, please read the article if you don't know who they are or what they do, but it's always tricky when you begin to fund games and have a number of successes. The "indie scene," as if there was something as cohesive as a single scene, has been dealing with the pressure of counter-culture turning into just plain culture for a while now, and this story talks about that tension and brings up some interesting insights.
Working towards your own destruction is a fair goal, especially when you're trying to fix a problem with the industry. Once that problem is solved, or at least lessened, why stick around? So far I've played and enjoyed everything the Indie Fund helped to make happen, and they're doing a great service to the community.
Still, wouldn't it be great if they weren't needed?
