The biggest battle in EVE Online history, as told by a survivor of the fight

Very often we hear stories of the grand exploits that go on within EVE Online's player-controlled universe, and it often seems like the world's most amazing game.

The problem is that few of us have ever invested enough time in EVE to really learn the game, let alone to participate at a high enough level that we know what it's like to fight in a grand war of corporations.

This article on EVE-specialist site EVE News 24 is a complete recounting of the fight from the perspective of somebody who actually fought in the battle. The lead up, the fight, the aftermath. It's all here, and told from a soldier's perspective. For once, we get to see what the game is actually like to be played during one of these massive events.

The best part about EVE is how fascinating it makes the mundane. I loved reading about the fleet's commanders worrying about whether the comms systems would hold up under the strain of the mass amount of people online for the fight. Or about this single pilot sitting in orbit awaiting orders. There's something about EVE's tedium that actually makes it more fascinating.
