The fascinating true story about the birth of Respawn, and how Zampella and West left Activision
This story has been going around for a while now in some form, but Vanity Fair does a great job of laying everything out and providing more details. It's hard to say if there's a good guy and a bad guy here, both sides seem like they acted like children at different times, but it's amazing to me that things got this bad around a franchise that continues to make so much money. This is a great look behind the business of blockbuster games, and how it often treats people like commodities. On the other hand, it could be a story about how two men knew when to leverage their position for great personal gain. Either way you look at it, this is one of the more intense stories in modern gaming, and it's worth reading.
