Getting a job in game development can seem to be as daunting as getting a job in the NBA. The level of talent and dedication on display from those fighting for jobs can be incredible.

This Gamasutra piece shines a spotlight on the work of Alexander Velicky, who reportedly spent over 2000 hours on a mod for Skyrim just to get a job interview with Bethesda.

On my good days I find these kinds of stories inspiring. On my bad days I feel like a lazy chump when comparing myself to titans of productivity like Velicky. When I was 19 years old I was busy mindlessly consuming games, not tirelessly working to create my own.

Velicky displayed in incredible resourcefulness in finishing this mod, complete with new voice acting, soundtrack, and even a new song for the bards. I pity any normal humans interest in game development who submit their resume alongside his.
