Titanfall won’t have expensive single player so you can’t rush through levels, or not finish it
Okay, there's some interesting stuff here. The idea that single-player content is very expensive to make, and that it can only take a short amount of time to get through, and most people don't finish the campaign... well, that's all true. It's a good point, especially since we're talking about a relatively small team for a AAA title.
On the other hand, almost all the developers I talk to on this issue tend to be shocked at how many people buy games we think of as being primarily MP and never go online. There is a huge market for campaigns in video games, and cutting it out altogether is a bold move.
Of course, it also gives them the ability to make the game require an Internet connection, since there is no "single-player" game. I was also told in my demo that there is strong story and NPC elements to the multiplayer, so you'll go through a full story and a campaign. Just with other people.
Although it was also hinted that you'd be able to play against bots, which means there may be an offline way to play. We'll see.
This is an interesting discussion, and I'm curious for your thoughts.
