Labeling the Valve offices “progressive” is much like telling a child that the pope is “sort of” Catholic. Fluid work space and a disregard for tiered management define the culture of Valve. Every single desk within Valve’s walls is on wheels, allowing new teams to form around projects as needed. Instead of offices, Valve uses “cabals” that can grow and shrink depending on what’s necessary for the project. This structure, or lack of structure, is a large part of what makes Valve so special.
