Kiko heard me watching the Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor trailer, and he looked in my door to nod vigorously re: his approval. Gabriel says yes as well. I liked it also, not least of which because it is every game I like at once. As a father and entrepreneur, the time savings would be incredible.
The metanarrative catalogued at Eurogamer is especially interesting; it starts with tweets where an ex-Ubisoft, currently-Capy developer more or less claims that the game is not merely similar but is literally built on Assassin's Creed tech. Then the game's design director says they weren't actually trying go for an Assassin's Creed vibe, which is, you know, okay, but that's definitely in there. I'm even okay with it! Day one purchase! I will buy any game where your cape looks like that, sold. But you can't act like you've never seen the games that built the genre expression you're trying on. You can't say you don't know about pants, you weren't trying to make pants, and then say you just wanted to make an article of clothing that covers the lower half of the body, has belt loops, and cinches with a zipper. Or, you can. But you look like a goofball.
Darksiders pillages the wealth of an entire medium, and then hits you with it mixed plate style. After maximal fragmentation, it's natural to converge; as suggested previously, I'm prepared for curry. And I'm not the only one. But honesty is a thing.
There is a part where Talion, your deathmonger, is running across some kind of cable thing - the two strand, bracketed cables I remember Ezio hunched over. Were I them, might have played the double bracketed cable a little closer to the vest. Or do, like, three cables. I'm not a smart person; I think three cables would have thrown me off the scent.
(CW)TB out.
