After multiple aborted attempts, both on my part and his deep knowing that The Witcher is awesome, Gabe is finally digging into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But, like… on the Switch.
David Lynch talked about how watching a movie on your phone was fundamentally unlike watching a movie at all, and having played The Witcher 3 the way I did - on an aggressively primed PC, oiled for deicide - there's probably some kind of a case to make there if I wanted to. I upgraded my machine for the second game, and for the third game also - there was still a contingent who felt that Witcher 3 didn't live up to the earlier shots, but it'd be hard to make the case that it didn't look fucking rad in a way that a new videocard might help with. Is he even going to the same Kaer Morhen? The same Novigrad? Is it even possible?
In truth, this many years on, I might remember the occasional sunflower here and there but what was retained in my mind is The Bloody Baron. Or those Goddamned Witches. Or when I got an armor set that finally looked warm enough for the Skellige Isles. Geralt's weariness, on every axis. It's filed away in my head the way a book would be. So maybe it's fine…?
I'm still gonna insist on headphones, though. Forgive an old man his faults.
Gonna hit the stream from 2-4pm PDT with my friend and confidant Ryan Hartman, where we'll Goose it up for a while until our strange appetites take us elsewhere. If they ever do. It's just a very, very watchable game. You can even watch it at this link, if you want to. Optimal link, really.
(CW)TB out.
