Maybe if you make stuff yourself, things like the Scoob or Batgirl cancellations just hit harder. I wasn't out here pining for these films, not a lot of Scoob fans in my house; they'd tell me it was Boomer shit for sure, even though that construct has been surprisingly resilient and readily interpreted generationally for decades. It's Commedia dell'arte, plus dog. We've been rocking that shit for a minute.
Way down here in the fucking mud, I think it's probably hard for a lot of mortals to imagine wasting a hundred and thirty million dollars on something. That's not where these glassy-eyed mutants live, though. They live in a golden world, layered o'ertop this one, where you destroy work so that you can play sophisticated games with the government inside of QuickBooks Pro.
We have seen a thing in our own dealings where we have a property placed in Hollywood, they've literally written us a check to use it, but then a new person becomes boss there and they clear the active slate of projects. I wouldn't never complain about it; we have the rights back, and we got paid for nothing. In the animal world, there's a concept called the Sexual Selection Hypothesis (SSH) where when new males come in they kill the existing young - infanticide as an adaptation. I don't know enough to say how it maps broadly across species but it is absolutely the norm in that accursed town.
Killing things means that you are a Very Serious Person. It's not success! It's definitely not success, and it certainly isn't production. These accounting games only get you so far. And if a child-grooming pervert on a globe-trotting crime spree gets to keep their movie, that's how you know it's all just… weird, it's all bullshit. It's a kind of madness regular people have no obligation to respect. It's why these things must pass into the public domain, because amoral, immortal entities cannot be trusted with the manufacture of culture.
(CW)TB out.
