Man, this Dead Space shit. It has to feel incredibly bad to make a spiritual sequel/remake of your old game, a la Callisto Protocol, and people aren't super hot on it - then have an official remake come out very soon after and basically everybody likes it. That would fuck my head up something fierce. It's fucking me up and it didn't even happen to me! If I weren't already sitting down, I would have to sit down. Sit down and just rest. Rest these weary bones.
I didn't even dislike Callisto Protocol. I liked it! I think it looks incredible. Some of these cutscenes are straight fucked. We used to have a term for a Mod that replaced everything and made a new game, I think these days we just call those Video Games, but Callisto Protocol does feel in some ways like a "total conversion." You are going to be stepping on a ribcage, in either case. That's where the goodies are. It is as though nature eventually got around to evolving The Pinata. You probably don't want a necromorph at a children's party, so it's not a one to one match, but if you're looking for some snacks or change a ruined torso has become the hot, go-to venue.
The "tycho@penny-arcade.com" email address is still fully operational, and has been for the great preponderance of the consumer Internet. I could clean it up, get Bayesian with it; I could click here to unsubscribe. The reason I don't is because I keep finding neat things to try in all the spam: most recently, Mahokenshi. When you see those cards at the bottom of the screen, and some hexes up on top, you might think it's gonna be a Slay The Spire thing or a Monster Train thing, but it's really not. This great review over at Rock Paper Shotgun soured on it because you're starting each level with a basic starter deck, and because it's fuckin' mean as hell, but I like building a character different ways each time. For one, it's scenario based, not run based. You're playing specific missions with specific requirements for success, and they're often timed. You can also lose a round and not lose the entire game, returning to the main screen with any XP you earned, unlocking trees, artifacts, and character cards. So… yeah. Thanks, Spam Folder.
