This is one of those "ripped from the headlines" strips - as devastating as that might seem. He'd never actually cast the spell before, and it works differently than he thought. By default, it puts one of the portals by you - so where you target the spell is actually the other end.
There is a powerful redemption arc, though. The very next game he served as a kind of quantum valet for the party, delivering us with his sorcerous skills directly to the exit, key in hand. But the first time, when I saw the two portals, like… adjacent, I thought maybe there was something fundamental about the game or perhaps even reality itself I didn't fully comprehend.
I'm only going to allow myself to look at the Acquisitions Incorporated: Season Two Kickstarter once a day, it's a very Jesus Take The Wheel situation. We've run a couple of these, for projects of varying complexity and personal engagement, and my fantasy is that we'll be able to make this show for you - and hopefully "season" it with a few of our subsequent goals, some of which affect the live shows. This isn't an either/or situation - live shows that you've come to expect are already locked in. But people really like those live shows, and it seemed like for the 15th Year of the "franchise" it would be great to give you three or four times more stuff. It's going to be a blast getting Chris Perkins and Jim Darkmagic back at the table, and the better the project does, the more cool names we can attach to it.
For my part, let me say that when you can't operate a fundamental part of your business for a couple years, life becomes substantially more difficult during a time which was already quite difficult for a variety of other reasons, like - and this is just one example - the plague. I would love to shake those years off, and give both of us something fun to look forward to, but we absolutely need your help to do it.
(CW)TB out.
