Essentially, Twitter just sorta makes Mike feel bad. I know a few people who have decided that it wasn't improving their lives, and escaped; Laura Frohmwerk and Kris Straub are both exploring Blue Skies and Tickity Toks and seem to be having more fun than they were previously. Or, at any rate, their actions aren't feeding Twitter's in-house AI bot or providing value and interest to someone they despise. There were many discrete thresholds where Morak might have decided that this was "his stop," and leave, but ultimately I think it was the return of Alex Jones that he couldn't abide.
The reason he couldn't abide it is because there was a period of time where Alex Jones told people that the parents of the children murdered at Sandy Hook had made it all up, and that one father may have been reading a script given to him by the government. It gets worse from there, and much weirder, but Gabriel doesn't need any of that additional stuff to know he doesn't want to be anywhere Alex Jones is. There's all kinds of dumb weirdos on there, to be sure. But Mike had the sense he was in a place, and Alex Jones walked into it, and suddenly he didn't want to be there anymore.
Everybody has a line and apparently that's his. He's gonna put stuff here on the site and apparently also Instagram as suggested in the strip, a realm I have heard referred to as both Insta and "The Gram." I will continue to hold court on the Tweeter because we're always doing stuff and somebody on there should know about it. It's sort of weird to be suppressed by default on there, feels bad, but the place feels odd in general now. I don't know! Maybe it's because a bunch of my friends left?!
(CW)TB out.
