I have got some pretty exciting news. Drum roll please...I have an interview at E3 with Ben Herman, President of the newly revived SNK NEOGEO USA Consumer Corp.
With so much exciting news coming out of SNK you better believe I’ve got lots of questions to ask.
I’ll try and pin him down on the rumors of a fifth Samurai Shodown game and the possibility of another Mark of the Wolves title. I want to ask him how SNK plans on taking advantage of the hardware present in modern systems. He already hinted at a 3D Metal Slug game but I’m curious if we’ll see any other beloved franchises like KOF make the leap to 3D. I want to know what he thinks of the Guilty Gear series. Obviously Sammy has raised the bar for 2D fighters with Guilty Gear XX. Capcom seems content to pretend the GG games don’t exist and just keeps releasing rehashes of old games with decade old sprites. Can we expect SNK to step up to the plate and deliver on a 2D fighter that can go toe to toe with GG? If SNK takes a brand like Samurai Shodown and produces a game that looks and plays as good as or better than Guilty Gear they could revitalize that genre in a way that no other company could.
Will we see any new arcade hardware coming out of SNK? Perhaps we’ll see an update to their MVS system, the work horse of the Coin Op industry. There are so many questions to ask that my head is swimming. If you have any questions you’d like asked please mail them to me. I see this as my opportunity to ask the questions every Neo Freak is dying to know.
