I got a lot of mail about the pictures yesterday. I should have been clear that I did not take those. Lots of you wanted to know what camera I used and the truth is Kiko took them. It’s pretty cool to have a friend who could easily be a professional photographer if he wasn't busy making awesome shirt designs. We just asked him to come over and snap some shots of the boys in their Halloween garb.
I asked him for some details on his camera for those of you who are interested. What he told me makes absolutely no sense to me. Hopefully this will mean something to you shutter bugs out there.
“I use a Canon 20D (body) with a EF 24-70mm f/2.8L (zoom lens) - and a Digital Rebel XT (body) with a EF 85mm f/1.2L (medium telephoto lens).”
He might as well have just told me he takes picture with the magiks.
Kiko actually has a Flickr site for those of you interested in seeing more of his stuff.
So it’s true that I’m essentially done with Lost. That night has become the night we get together with all our friends though. We always go out to dinner, stop off at Cold Stone and then get home in time to turn off all the lights and watch Lost. Those nights will still happen but the actual watching of the show has become purely vestigial. Vestigial? Did I even use that right? Jesus, I really need to hang out with someone other than Tycho.
As many of you have suggested in your emails to me I have moved on to Heroes. So far the show has been great and I’m keeping my fingers crossed they can keep it up. I don’t watch a ton of television but I do have a few favorite shows I try not to miss. I think the Office is still the funniest thing on T.V. If you have an HD television and I hope that you do then I highly recommend Atlas on the Discovery channel. It’s like one of the films you might have watched in Grade school about Italy or China except it’s filmed in stunning high def. I also don’t miss Extreme Home Makeover. I know I know, why the hell do I watch it? I’m weak. I sit there every Sunday and cry like a fucking baby while Ty and his crew build a mansion for some paraplegic widow whose firefighting husband died saving babies from a burning orphanage leaving her to raise their twelve blind mute children who all need open heart surgery by herself. Bus driver, MOVE THAT BUS! I’m misting up just thinking about it.
Kara and I started playing FF XII last night. Only got a few hours in but my initial impressions are actually positive. It’s interesting, Kara is the one playing it and she actually really likes the move away from random battles and turn based combat. Apparently those are not the things she likes about the FF series. She’s a WOW player and FFXII is essentially an MMO without the second M or the O. Last night we were taking quests and grinding mobs. It’s a beautiful game and I really enjoy watching it, I'm not sure how much I'd like playing it though.
Before it came out I couldn’t understand why they would change the combat system so much. In fact after playing the demo I really thought it was terrible. Now seeing Kara play the game it makes sense. It’s not bad, It’s just not for me anymore. It’s for a different sort of gamer and that person will really like it.
