The Child’s Play Charity dinner was last week and I had an incredible time. This year Scott and Kris took over hosting duties and I was a big fan. Since I wasn’t on stage this was the first year I actually got to sit at a table and eat dinner with my friends and family. I enjoy running the auction but I have to say actually attending the dinner is pretty awesome.
I think the craziest part of the evening was watching Tycho bid on and then win my sketchbook. A few people asked me afterwards why he bought it if he can just look at it whenever he wants. Well actually he can’t look at it. 99% of the stuff in my sketchbook doesn’t get shown to anyone. he’s always trying to peek over my shoulder but I do a good job of hiding it from him. So not only did he do something nice for charity but now he can thumb through my sketch book right in front of me. Well played Tycho. Well played.
I tried bidding on a few items including a trip to Bungie to play Destiny, A Daughter's of the Eyrewood painting by Katie Rice, and some Halo Mega Bloks. Despite my best efforts and a willingness to blow my budget I lost all of them. The amount of money getting tossed around Thursday night was pretty staggering. Towards the end of the night I actually started bidding on the appearance in a PA strip auction. I figured it would save us a ton of time if the Child’s Play comic next year just had to have Gabe in it. I was destroyed by a very generous Wil Shipley though who picked up what I think is his fourth PA strip.
After the auction we all got together in the lobby for some pictures. We took a family photo that I think turned out really nice. I think the PA family cleans up pretty good.
After that it was suggested by the crowd that Tycho and I take a set of “prom” photos. I’ll just leave this here.
