I’m trying not to make every single one of my posts about Wildstar but it’s not easy. A couple cool things happened yesterday though that I wanted to share.
The C.R.E.D.D system launched and it’s really interesting. How it works is you can purchase C.R.E.D.D for $19.99 real world bucks and it is equal to 30 days of game time. Now you can turn around and sell the C.R.E.D.D in the game to another person for game money. So they can pay for their subscription that month with money they earned playing the game and you can convert real money to game money. Someone got to keep playing Wildstar for free and I turned twenty bucks into a ridiculous amount of in game money. That’s a win/win in my book.
The other cool thing that happened yesterday is I ran my first Dungeon. This wasn’t like the sprawling “Adventure” I had done earlier. This was a more traditional linear dungeon like you might see in WoW or any other MMO. What sets it apart though is the gameplay. First of all it was hard as hell but I loved every minute of it. Learning to avoid enemy telegraphs while staying in range of my healer (who is also jumping around like mad) is so much fun. Again there is no standing around in here. You have got to be on your fucking game the entire time. Stay too long in a damage zone and you're dead. Miss a dodge or forget to stun at the right time and you’re dead. The best part is that all the information you need to succeed is right there for you in the game. You can see all the attacks telegraphed in glowing red zones. you can watch these ridiculous red patterns blast out of these enemies and you can react to them with quick reflexes. I explained my experience to Tycho this morning and he said “wow, it sounds like you were playing a video game.” and he’s right.
This video shows off Raids but the mechanics are similar for Dungeons just with a smaller group.
After it was over I went back to my house and worked on my garden for a bit then went inside to decorate. It was midnight and I was arranging a new bookshelf I had gotten when I realised I should probably go to sleep.
