If the actions I'm likely to take were rendered in a fashion similar to a Final Fantasy game, "Leave Well Enough Alone" would not be represented there. Here's the reality: Spite is not a single item, but the header for an entire menu of Spite based attacks.
I wouldn't last very long in today's school environment. I'm not good at being like other people, and when "weird" became synonymous with "dangerous" in this context it did (and does) tremendous damage. The range of acceptable selves is under more or less constant assault. I read about that kid who got kicked out of school for threatening another student with the One Ring in a way completely counter to the literary or filmic representation, and wept figuratively. Indeed, what he threatened the boy with is the precise opposite of what the ring would actually do, because he's a kid and he doesn't know any Goddamn thing. Also: it can't actually do anything, because it's not real. Even imagining something bad is wrong. We are putting the finishing touches on Hell, and we got here by trying to make Heaven. Do you people ever fucking read?
What's vital is that we grind the edges off young people so that they don't get distracted when it comes time to punch in our number three value meal. You have to learn how to be a person, and you never stop learning. This is something "adults" can never seem to remember.
(CW)TB out.
