I'm trying to get back en Twittre (Francais), and it's slow going. Presumably there is a bike metaphor we can leverage. Even though the whole thing is opt-in, people have to specifically choose to listen to me, I still feel like I'm being rude by using it! It makes no sense. So whatever I put in there has to be enough by some mystic standard, and it invariably isn't. As usual, Jane Austen nailed it two hundred years ago:
We are each of an unsocial, taciturn disposition, unwilling to speak, unless we expect to say something that will amaze the whole room, and be handed down to posterity with all the eclat of a proverb.
It's also a dangerous place, constructed in such a way as to be an optimal zone of fragmentary communication, conceptual ships passing in the night, and impulsive snippery that you could in all wisdom avoid it. But there is another way, a third way. That's what I've heard.
I hear a lot of sounds from Gabriel's direction right now that sound like "ching" and "whomp" and "clash clash clash," what you might call Wildstar sounds, even though he "isn't going to play Wildstar until it comes out." I asked him about this, and he said that he was only playing "the bad guys," which doesn't even begin to answer my question.
He "only installed it to check out the character creator," and he did so, but the problem was that every randomly generated entity was incredible. They were characters not in the game sense but in the literary sense, seemingly possessed of verve, and 'tude, and after he had created several hundred of them one of their number veritably demanded adventure. I can't tell if this is a warning against the beta or a strong directive toward it, but there you are.
