Don't Skip Ale&Tale Tavern!

By Gabe – June 26, 2024

I’m constantly on the hunt for fun cooperative games to play with the fam. It can be tricky because everyone tends to want something a little different. I just recently discovered a new winner though and after completing the demo with Kara I had to come tell you about Ale&Tale Tavern!

Wild Ideas For Your Next D&D Game!

By Gabe – June 26, 2024

I like Dungeons & Dragons but I’d be lying if I said I had a firm grasp on its rules. I know about rolling dice and I get that high numbers are good, but beyond that I’m pretty much just winging it whenever I play. What I really like about D&D is how easy it is to build your own games inside of it.

Comptabiblio

D&D was ever a substrate, an agar plate for you to grow your own mysterious creatures. It used to be incredibly bizarre, baroque, and it's gotten increasingly more legible over time. More people are playing them than have ever played them before, which is cool. There's gonna be a new one I guess! That's what I heard.

A Little Penny Arcade Lower Decks Fan Art

Back when Next Generation was on television it was appointment viewing for me. I loved that series as a highschool kid. After that I caught a few episodes here and there of other Star Trek shows but that’s about it. Eventually Strange New worlds came around and sort of ignited my interest in all things Trek again. Currently We’re watching Voyager and Lower Decks here in the Krahulik house. We’re only in season 2 of both shows but I’m loving them. Voyager is a trip back in time to a different era in Television when Shows got seven seasons and almost thirty episodes per season. There’s some genuinely amazing Sci-Fi ideas in Voyager and with so many episodes you get plenty of time to get to know the characters.

Return Voyage

It's surprising for us to remember how long a "season" of a show was, and then it would go fallow for a time until the new crop. It's even more surprising if you hail naturally from this time and go back - Ronia discovered that a season of 30 Rock is like twenty-two fucking shows. There was a specific term for televised presentations that rested between a season and a movie, "miniseries," that I'm not sure is even coherent anymore. We don't need something to describe that state. It has become the norm.

Rendezvous With Mama

I probably have a foot in each world when it comes to romance in media generally. I think it's very fun to write but whenever I read it, I get the sense - communicated by the hairs on my neck - that I am being observed. The shit people are saying online about this old man, and others, heroes of every conceivable description, is so out of pocket that it's lying on the actual ground. I'm the last person who is gonna be out here policing a kink, but I will admit to a little confusion about what kind of speech is kosher when describing even imaginary people. I feel like the rules keep changing in a kaleidoscopic shibboleth, a three dimensional hard-light cipher. I get more value out of trying to describe it than I do trying to solve it.

My Latest Marvel Snap variant just dropped!

In regards to today's comic, I’m situated firmly on the side of the Neurospicy spectrum that finds things more interesting than people. Pretty girls? No thanks, I'll take a featureless monolith floating in space near Jupiter whose perfect ratio of 1:4:9 is inexplicably filled with stars.

Kingdom Arts

Now that Kingdom Hearts is on PC, it… well, it was on EGS. Now that it's on more PCs via Steam, it's time to figure out which Kingdom Hearts is right for you. I've digested enough lore videos to know that the Dunkey video doesn't have as many jokes in it as you would think it does, but I'm not super up on what the most savoury route through these things actually is.

I Heart Kingdom Hearts!

The entire Kingdom Hearts collection is now available on Steam and I spent the weekend replaying some of my favorites. The games are divided into three different packages that collect games from various platforms. You can also buy the "Integrum Masterpiece" which includes all three packs with all the games. I’m lucky that all my favorite entries in the series are in the first pack called KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-.

Star Trek Wars

Apparently shit got pretty heated over at Chez Gabril night before last, as the youngest is now coming into his own - ready to contend with his elder brother in a truly ancient form of combat. I understand that really getting down into the Mortis Gods can have a certain intensity, but I would much rather discuss Tatooine or some shit than the crap I got going on over here. I'll tell you that much. Holy shit, man. I'd love to cross those fuckin' streams. I'd be overjoyed to discuss how, since Star Wars is in the ancient past of this universe, and Star Trek the near future, we have to consider if and how not just The Fast but also, like, The Furious fits into all this.

That's Not Me On Twitter

By Gabe – June 13, 2024

I left Twitter months ago and it has been awesome, I highly recommend it. Now I just post here on Penny Arcade which honestly has a couple million more viewers than my Twitter account ever had. Somehow I still have to deal with Twitter bullshit though. If you still toil in that wretched place you should know someone has picked up and started using my old account name. I’m not going to link it here and we have removed mentions of it from the site but I just wanted to make sure everyone knows that’s not me. I’m done with social media, if you want to know what I’m up to, just read this site.
