Just as in the days of old, we're gonna put a couple pitches in front of you. Historically, this has resulted in some hot shit. Today's is a return to those Sorcelations which have historically been so prized. Friday's is yet to come, but it's worth noting as a preview perhaps that Gabriel and I consider Catholicism to be a criminally underutilized IP.
I genuinely can't understand what's going on with Redfall. There was something about how it was launching with a low framerate, but that is definitely not the problem with the game. Then Redfall somehow became a mechanism for litigating Game Pass broadly, or the ramp to seventy dollar PC games. That's a lot of extra information to calculate. I don't know if Redfall warrants all that. What I'm messing around with here doesn't even seem like it's done a hundred percent.
In his seminal 1992 banger "Baby Got Back," local hero Sir Mix-a-Lot castigates brothers who - in their foolishness - discard a considerable rump, promising he will "roll up quick" in an effort to secure it. I'm like that, but for games. But there's almost nothing to pick up here. It doesn't have drop-in, drop-out. There are sterile expanses you could eat off of. I had to spend too long trying to pick up a wrench. I literally feel bad shooting some of these enemies because I think it's entirely possible they don't know I'm there, or where they are. They don't know what's happening.
It's entirely possible that there is something cool here - if they treat it like we're just getting started and now we're working toward something. Sea of Thieves and Grounded would be good examples - these games are fucking cool. But they got cooler, and it's a process we all got to see and be there for. Is that what's happening? What's happening. What is going on with this?
The idea of an "Arkane" game, something in the Dishonored vein where weird, cool lore, credible stealth, and novel abilities that turn game worlds into endlessly interesting puzzles is already something we know is good. The notion that you'd be able to play such a world with your friends is literally what I'm thinking the whole time I'm playing Dishonored or Deathloop. Like, the whole time. I get very lonely in there, which is frankly harmonious with the aesthetics they've executed anyway so it's fine. But I think about Gotham Knights, or Suicide Squad - a lot of people, myself included, were sorta like "Let me play the Batman games with my friends" and judging from how those last two turned out it seems like… you know, maybe there's more to it.
Mork has to encounter the Lair of the Orthodontist today, his greatest fear, so no streams from us unfortunately - though our deadly Josh is out Honkin' a big ol Star Rail on the strimm if you're trying to see if rail honking is right for you.
(CW)TB out.
