This is great

By Gabe – August 5, 2009

A reader has taken the time to actually produce the above radio show. I thought he did an awesome job:

my D&D game

By Gabe – August 4, 2009

My D&D game last night was an epic one. I called it the season finale because it wrapped up a story-line that started on their very first encounter. They have also reached level 11 which is a major milestone and so I wanted the game to be especially dramatic.

My Neo Geo for Child's Play

By Gabe – August 3, 2009

You might remember me talking about my Neo Geo Arcade machine here on the site a few times. I saved it from an arcade that was remodeling and fixed it up. It's been very good to me over the years, but it will not be making the trip over to our new office. Instead I have decided to auction it off for Child's Play. You can find the Auction here. You must be local and you must be able to come get it. Other than that, I only ask that you give her a good home, and treat her well.

Automata, Page 3

By Tycho – August 3, 2009

Automata returns. Again! This series ends on Monday, if you were wondering - after which we will indulge in a full week of surprising (and inappropriate) Falcon Pawnches.

For Our Friends To The North

By Tycho – July 30, 2009

Because I'm on Popcap's mailing list (one of the few I tolerate, for reasons you will soon see) I had a chance to grab Bookworm Adventures 2 a little early.  That all happened here, so if you were a fan of the first one, maybe that will work for you?  Reviewing such a game is beyond worthless.  You either want to spell words or you don't, and if you do, a context where spelling is an act of almost barbaric aggression will appeal to you.

On Being A Language Foundry

By Tycho – July 29, 2009

My deepest fantasy is that, in my meanderings on this site, we will produce a piece of language that is useful to you.  Not a slogan; not a quip or a retort, though if we do happen to provide those I'm happy to be of service.  What I actually want to do is to create a useful linguistic tool that will improve your life, or has a life of its own, used over and over until the original source has been completely filed away.

Omeganauts Will Be Selected Soooon

By Tycho – July 29, 2009

We will be choosing the Omeganauts on August 5th, from the pool of those who have registered to attend this year's show.  If you want to get "in the mix," as it were, then registering today is strongy advised.  Of course, even if you aren't chosen, you're still going to PAX.  There's really no way to lose.

Fabulous Prizes

By Tycho – July 29, 2009

Dante's Inferno makes less and less sense each time it bobs to the surface of games coverage. That shouldn't be construed as a review; I don't know anything about it. I'm just saying that whenever an asset does emerge, video, image, or interview, it falls instantly out of my head.

Escalation, Part Two

By Tycho – July 27, 2009

Having been delayed in our return flight multiple times, the last time I saw on the clock before I was overcome by sleep was 3:59 in the morning. I didn't recognize my room when I woke up in it. Then, I missed the last couple stairs and landed in a heap. I'm seriously wondering if I will be able to type without injury.

Escalation, Part One

By Tycho – July 24, 2009

Arc System Works' BlazBlue has, much as their Guilty Gear before it, forcibly created a domain for itself in our minds. It exhibits another strange feature, something rare in a fighter, and something I've only seen in the Guilty Gears: I don't actually mind losing. Winning is exhilarating, to be certain. But I can fail without anguish, which means I am likely to play again, which means I am able to grow in skill, which has as its happy result an increased chance of victory in the future. It's a circuit I am delighted to travel.

In Case You Were Curious

By Tycho – July 22, 2009

"Ham Doctor" was just one entry in a horrifying list we made up to shock the future.  Here are the others, if you are so inclined:
