I haven't "missed" E3 until this year. I went every year from '99 or so until it collapsed, and the last few years I've been fine; I have larvae at home which are molting constantly, and sometimes they need help writhing out of their dessicated sheaths. They need my mandibles. But it was nice to have an excuse to make full use of portables, a chance to leverage all those multiplayer features that were purchased but so rarely utilized.
We're in the Old Growth stage now for these machines, and there's a lot of entrenchment, but it's a time where little green shoots sometimes erupt to startle deliciously. I am keeping a watchful eye; Ben is there as well for The Report, under strict orders to act as our black cloud of surveillance crows.
E3 is the thing right now, but if you still long for tabletop delights - even here, in the very seat of digital power - there's a Kickstarter with about a day left on it that is pretty ripe. Ground Floor, a competitive game where you build businesses, has met all of its funding goals by a decent margin now which means all stretch goals have been met. I've been watching it on a daily basis, because the last goal - the addition of another game entirely, called Skyline - was especially intriguing to me. That means you can get both games for an extremely low price if you're so inclined, and it's easy to find out if you would be, as there's a print and play version available on the site with a video that explains everything. That's what did it for me, anyway. Take a peek.
Also! The game I made with Zeboyd - On The Rain-Slick Precipice Of Darkness: Episode 3 - actually has a date and a price and everything. It's coming out July 10 on PC and Xbox Live Indie Games for five bucks. I am very pleased with it. We're gonna hand over the "codebase" (developer term!!!) for porting pretty quick here, so we should know when Mac/Android/iOS are gonna hit soon. Then it's just free DLC, then more free DLC, then Episode 4, and then... I'm not sure there is a then. I think this is what I want to be.
(CW)TB out.
